| So often we grieve so much for our losses. We struggle with our desires to keep things just as they are, even if they have become painful for us. We can not see through our pain, that Spirit has something better for us just ahead. I want to share a personal story with you about a lesson I learned that may be of benefit to you. Some time ago I was talking with a good friend of ours over an issue I was working with that was very concerning to me. I knew I needed to come to a place of trust in the Universe before I could move on to a higher place in my spirit walk. Most of us know that the Creator wants us to have the best and for us to walk in peace and in harmony. Most of us do understand the concept of "letting go and letting God". Psychologically we understand that if we say the prayer to the Universe to bring to us that which is of the greatest and highest good, that is what the Universe is willing to do for us. We also know there are no favourites in Spirit World. We are all created equal and unconditional love is given to all of us as we walk our path. What is interesting is that as soon as we utter that prayer many of us immediately begin to block the Universe from giving us what we have asked for because we refuse to let go of the situation. We will not relinquish - truly let go- of our own ego-based control. My friend wisely said to me, "Do you believe that the Universe wants the best for you?" He said this without smiling and I knew he was serious. "Oh yes!" I said, without hesitation. His eyes pierced my spirit. Finally he said, "Do you 'really' believe Brenda?" This time I gave it more thought. I had been studying the Law of Attraction and the power of our thoughts and actions. I went deeper; what really is at the core of our needing to be in control? The answer is always the same. The core is named fear. We can blame our dysfunction on past events that took place in our childhood, or in our previous relationships but it always comes back to fear. Fear of loss, fear of abandonment, fear of being alone or not having enough. We do what we need to do to protect ourselves from the pain of closed doors, yet in that very action, we do not allow for the greater door of opportunity to open for us and we become stuck right where we are. And we can not figure out what we are doing wrong and why we can't get to the next level of spirituality and prosperity. In his very stern but loving way, my friend offered that we say a prayer of agreement to the Universe. It would be a prayer we would only say "one" time and then let go and let the Universe take control. I share the concept of this simple but very powerful prayer with you so that you may look into your own spirit and let go of that which does not serve your highest good. "I come to you with a grateful heart and thanksgiving for all the many wonderful things you have provided for me in my life (you can name them if you desire). I know in my heart that you want to give me abundance in every area of my journey. I know there are unlimited resources and unconditional love set out for me and all those who ask for it. I know that to receive all that you have for me I simply state my desire to you and then release my own control and all the thoughts and actions that would prevent the Universe from taking control of my situation. And so today, I pray that you will take complete control of my situation (it is good to specifically name the situation). I release my own control and my fears and I ask that you would bring to me that which is of the greatest and highest good in this matter. I believe with all that is within me that you will do it. Ho! Let it be so!" In the early weeks that followed my prayer I was tempted to return to my old ways of control and worrying and I did not see immediate results. But each day I became stronger as I refused to pick up those burdens of fear I had been carrying. Control is a habit and not an easy one to break. But I began to feel lighter. People noticed I was more confident and looking a little younger (a great benefit). Stress will make you look and feel old. It will literally cripple you mentally and physically. When I stopped giving my negative energy to the situation, and allowed Spirit to take control, the situation eventually "resolved itself" and a much greater opportunity was able to flow through to me! You have free will. At any time you can choose to let go and receive that which the Universe has been trying to give you all along! Enjoy the beginning of spring where seeding takes place.......a time of new beginnings. It is "your" time. Open your heart and let go of your fears, you can be free and life can be so much better than it was yesterday! ...know that you are never alone and that the Great Mystery walks beside you and is with you on your journey.
